Colonial Mining Activity
Artisinal (Gallamsey) mining takes place at various sites on the concession area.
The reconnaissance exploration activities since 1994 have generated 70 stream- and 9523 soil geochemical samples on an initial grid of 800 m x 50 m, which was later in filled at 400 m x 50 grid and 200 m x 50 m. Some 713 trench samples yielded promisinig results. As a result five mineralised prospects were generated namely Aboanidua, Abuanidua East, Camp, South Camp and the Bankromisa prospects. Visible gold has also been noted.
Conversion of reconnaissance License to Prospecting License (PL 2/432) granted
Hedco Mining Company Limited commissioned to conduct a Techno- Economic Study, to define all stages of exploration , mettalurgical testing, and mine design to bring the project to the account and to oversee the project to full implementation
