Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Extraction Technologies to oversee the strategic direction, development, and deployment of Exoben’s lithium and sodium extraction processes. In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and project managers in advancing extraction technologies, ensuring they are scalable, cost-effective, and operationally robust. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to bring innovative extraction solutions from concept to commercial scale, driving sustainability and efficiency across Exoben’s resource extraction operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership in Extraction Technologies: Provide overall strategic direction for Exoben’s lithium and sodium extraction processes. Define and execute a long-term technology roadmap that aligns with the company’s growth and sustainability objectives, focusing on innovations that drive efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Technology Development and Deployment: Lead the research, development, and deployment of advanced extraction technologies, including direct lithium extraction (DLE) and sodium recovery methods. Oversee the design and implementation of extraction processes that optimize yield, reduce energy consumption, and minimize environmental impact.
- Scalability and Commercialization: Ensure that extraction technologies are scalable and ready for commercial deployment. Work closely with engineering, operations, and production teams to transition extraction innovations from pilot programs to full-scale operations while maintaining cost-effectiveness and operational reliability.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, engineering, environmental management, and operations, to integrate extraction technologies into Exoben’s broader infrastructure. Ensure seamless coordination across departments for the successful deployment of extraction solutions.
- Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship: Lead initiatives to ensure that Exoben’s extraction technologies meet the highest environmental and sustainability standards. Develop strategies for water conservation, waste reduction, and minimizing carbon emissions, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
- Innovation and Research Partnerships: Foster relationships with research institutions, industry partners, and technology providers to stay at the forefront of extraction technology innovation. Explore new methods and materials that enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of extraction operations.
- Operational Excellence and Efficiency: Implement systems and processes that ensure operational excellence in extraction technology deployment. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the performance of extraction systems, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Regulatory and Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all extraction technologies and processes comply with local, national, and international regulations related to mining, environmental protection, and workplace safety. Work closely with legal and regulatory teams to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Cost Control and Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets related to extraction technology projects. Ensure cost-effective implementation of technologies while maintaining a focus on quality, sustainability, and operational performance.
- Risk Management and Mitigation: Identify potential risks associated with new extraction technologies and processes, including technical, operational, and environmental risks. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure project success and safety.
- Technology Trends and Industry Best Practices: Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in lithium and sodium extraction. Use industry knowledge to influence the direction of Exoben’s technology investments and R&D efforts, positioning the company as a leader in sustainable resource extraction.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead a high-performing team of engineers, scientists, and project managers focused on extraction technology innovation. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to foster growth and expertise within the team.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Resource Extraction, or Environmental Science is highly desirable.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in resource extraction, mining technologies, or process engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven experience in lithium or sodium extraction processes is highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of extraction processes, including direct lithium extraction (DLE), brine extraction, and hard rock mining techniques. Experience in scaling up extraction technologies from pilot to commercial scale is critical.
- Sustainability Knowledge: In-depth understanding of sustainability principles and best practices in resource extraction, including water conservation, waste management, and carbon footprint reduction. Experience in environmentally responsible extraction technologies is highly desirable.
- Project Management and Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technology development projects, with a proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and teams to achieve project goals. Strong leadership and team development skills are essential.
- Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with mining regulations, environmental laws, and safety standards applicable to lithium and sodium extraction. Experience working with regulatory bodies to secure permits and ensure compliance is a plus.
- Collaboration and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Proven experience in collaborating with research institutions, technology providers, and industry partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree: Master’s degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant industry certifications.
- Industry Experience: Extensive experience in leading large-scale lithium or sodium extraction projects, particularly with cutting-edge extraction technologies.
