We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Data Scientist to join Exoben’s Research and Development (R&D) and Operations teams. As a Data Scientist, your role will focus on analyzing large datasets from extraction and production processes to improve operational efficiency, predict resource depletion, and optimize production methods. You will collaborate with engineers, geologists, and other data specialists to develop predictive models, identify key trends, and drive strategic decision-making across the company’s operations. This role is pivotal in enabling Exoben to remain a leader in data-driven sustainability and efficiency.
Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Environmental Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in advancing our sustainability goals. The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing eco-friendly processes related to mining and resource extraction. This role will focus on mitigating the environmental impact of our operations, including waste management, emissions reduction, and land rehabilitation, while ensuring full compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of Exoben’s operations, from extraction to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis & Optimization: Analyze large datasets generated from lithium and sodium extraction processes, identifying patterns and insights that can be used to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance production methods.
- Predictive Analytics: Develop predictive models and algorithms to forecast resource depletion rates, equipment maintenance schedules, and other key operational metrics, enabling proactive management of resources and infrastructure.
- Process Efficiency: Work closely with engineers to integrate data insights into real-time production processes, helping to minimize energy consumption, maximize yield, and streamline workflows.
- Machine Learning Models: Design and implement machine learning models to predict and optimize various aspects of the extraction and refining process, including resource utilization, extraction rates, and environmental impacts.
- Data Visualization & Reporting: Create detailed reports and visualizations to communicate key findings to stakeholders, including engineers, management, and external partners. Provide data-driven recommendations to enhance decision-making.
- Data Integration: Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate data collection systems, ensuring seamless data flow from operational machinery and sensors to analytical platforms.
- Real-Time Monitoring: Develop systems for real-time monitoring and analysis of operational data, providing actionable insights to improve day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement based on data insights and work with multidisciplinary teams to implement solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and support sustainability goals.
- Collaboration with R&D: Partner with Research and Development teams to incorporate data insights into the development of new technologies, ensuring that future extraction methods are data-driven and optimized from the outset.
- Automation & Scalability: Assist in automating key data collection and analysis processes, ensuring scalability as the company expands its operations globally.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. A background in data analytics within the energy, mining, or resource extraction industries is a plus.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in data science, predictive analytics, or a related field, with a focus on industrial operations, process optimization, or resource management.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in data analysis and machine learning tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, TensorFlow, or similar platforms. Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark is highly desirable.
- Data Visualization Tools: Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js for creating impactful dashboards and visual reports.
- Predictive Modeling: Strong background in building predictive models using machine learning algorithms, time series analysis, and statistical techniques to forecast resource availability, operational efficiency, and process optimization.
- Database & SQL Skills: Proficiency in database management and querying languages (SQL, NoSQL) for extracting, processing, and analyzing large datasets from operational databases.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and provide actionable insights to improve operational processes.
- Collaboration Skills: Experience working in cross-functional teams, particularly with engineers, geologists, and production staff, to integrate data science into industrial processes.
- Project Management: Ability to manage data-centric projects from conception to execution, including planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
