Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and driven Materials Scientist to join Exoben’s Research and Development (R&D) team. In this role, you will focus on researching and developing new advanced materials to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of our extraction processes, particularly for lithium and sodium. Your work will be instrumental in improving selective ion exchange, filtration, and membrane technologies, which are vital for efficient resource extraction and refining. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the innovation of clean energy technologies while working alongside a diverse and multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Materials Research & Development: Lead research efforts to develop advanced materials for selective ion exchange, filtration, and membrane technologies, specifically for lithium and sodium extraction.
- Efficiency Improvement: Design and test new materials that improve the efficiency, yield, and scalability of extraction processes, reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.
- Collaboration with Engineers: Work closely with chemical, electrochemical, and process engineers to integrate new materials into large-scale extraction systems.
- Experimental Testing & Validation: Develop and execute experimental protocols to test the performance of newly developed materials, ensuring they meet the high standards required for industrial applications.
- Sustainability & Innovation: Focus on environmentally friendly materials and processes that contribute to Exoben’s commitment to sustainability and the reduction of waste and emissions.
- Process Integration: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure that newly developed materials are seamlessly integrated into extraction processes, facilitating their use in pilot plants and full-scale production.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, including material specifications, test results, and recommendations for implementation in commercial processes.
- Stay Current with Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in materials science and extraction technologies, applying new knowledge to further enhance Exoben’s processes.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in materials research and development, particularly in advanced materials for ion exchange, filtration, or membrane technologies.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of materials used in chemical processes, including the design, testing, and optimization of materials for industrial applications.
- Process Optimization: Experience in optimizing materials for efficiency in extraction processes, with a focus on lithium, sodium, or similar metals.
- Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams, collaborating with engineers and scientists to solve complex problems.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex research findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree: Master’s or PhD in Materials Science or a related field.
- Industry Experience: Significant experience in materials development for energy storage, mining, or extraction industries.
- Simulation Software: Experience with material modeling and simulation software to predict performance and guide development.
- Sustainability Focus: A passion for developing materials and processes that align with Exoben’s sustainability goals, reducing the environmental impact of industrial operations.
